Leica Announce V-Lux 30 Digital Camera

Last night Leica announced a new line up to their digital compact camera range. The V-Lux 30 which supersedes the current V-Lux 20.

The camera features a newly designed 14.1 megapixel 1/2.33'' CMOS sensor which guarantees outstanding image quality and allows photographers the ability to capture image sequences with a fast continuous burst rate of 10 frames a second at full resolution, or 60 frames a second with a reduced resolution.

The V-Lux 30 also features a new Leica DC Vario-Elmar 4.3-68.8mm f/3.3-5.9 ASPH. 16x zoom lens. In old school 35mm terms that's equivalent to a 24-384mm lens. Another interesting feature of the V-Lux 30 is its 3D mode. This enables users to combine 2 suitable images into a "stereo image pair" and saves them as a 3D image in a MPO format.

Thanks to the intergrated GPS function, the V-Lux 30 records the geographical coordinates of the location and local time for every shot and saves them in the Exif data of the image files. When travelling, the V-Lux 30 can also display the sightseeing highlights of the immediate neighbourhood (1,000,000 "points of interest".) Images posted on social networks, image portals and map sites such as Google maps or Google Earth reveal exactly when are where they were shot.

Another great new feature of the V-lux 30 is its 3'' touch screen LCD. With 460,000 pixels this provides the user a reliable and precise assessment of images both during compositon and after they've been captured.

To go along with the V-Lux 30's elegant styling are 2 leather cases (available on release). A soft leather case and a strong resilient leather case.

Available from Camera Electronic in june. For more information on availability stay tuned to this blog. lternatively you can call the shop or click here to email one of our friendly sales staff.

Nikon 50mm f1.8G

Nikon is pleased to announce the release of the AF-S Nikkor 50mm f1.8G. A fast, bright, 50mm fixed focal length lens compatible with Nikon FX-format Digital SLR cameras.

The AF-S Nikkor 50mm f1.8G offers the pleasing blur characteristics and three-dimensional rendering capabilities possible only with a fixed focal length (prime) lens. This particular lens also incorporates a new optical design that enables f1.8 maximum aperture utilizing an aspherical lens element, which achieves superior rendering performance for excellent image quality even when shooting in low light.

The built in Silent-Wave Motor (SWM) ensures quiet autofocus operation. Even more, the SWM means that autofocus shooting is also possible when the lens is used with entry level Nikon DX-format Digital SLR cameras such as the D5100 and D3100, which are not equipped with an autofocus drive motor.

The AF-S Nikkor 50mm f1.8G is expected to arrive in store early June and will be retailing for around $299. For more information give one of our sales staff a call on 9328-4405, email or drop in and see us at the shop.

Studio Lighting Workshop with Dale Neill

Dale Neill imparted some of his extensive photographic wisdom on Sunday to a group of about 15 Busselton locals.  The all day workshop was focused on studio lighting techniques and and gave people the chance to explore the wonderful world of studio portraiture.  Dale also gave important lessons on interacting with your subject and showed the importance of communication and building a rapport during the shoot.

Camera Electronic was pleased to support the event, we drove down on the evening before the workshop with a van full to the brim with lighting equipment and a huge range of other photographic goodies.  From Nikon 300mm f2.8 lenses and D3 bodies to Digital Grey Cards and SteadePod's we had it all on hand for people to try out for the day.

Thanks to everyone who came and made it a great day!
